The TOEFL exam is a highly recognized and regarded English proficiency examination that assesses non-native speakers' language skills. It assesses four fundamental language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The test is intended to assess your ability to understand and apply English in an academic setting, making it a relevant assessment tool for students seeking admission to English-speaking universities or colleges.
The exam is divided in two types:
TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test): The TOEFL iBT is the most widely used version of the exam. It is totally online and uses integrated tasks to assess all four language abilities. The exam is completed on a computer by test takers, and the speaking component involves recording comments that are then analyzed by qualified examiners.
TOEFL Paper-based Test (PBT): The TOEFL PBT is less widespread and is mostly given in locations with restricted internet connectivity. This edition assesses listening, structure and written expression, as well as reading comprehension. Unlike the iBT, the PBT does not feature a speaking component and instead demands you to write essays in response to specified prompts.
